The former Derby man spent 13 months on the sidelines thanks to a serious ankle injury and made his return at the beginning of September.

“It’s been depressing at times, frustrating, but I’ve close family and friends who have been supportive and luckily, there was always going to be light at the end of the tunnel, and that’s been the case,” Huddlestone said.

“This pre-season and into the season I’ve been fully fit and I’ve got a couple of games under my belt so far.

“It was frustrating last season not being to contribute. Hopefully now I’m over the worst of it, I can kick on and try to force my way back into the team.”
