Roy Hodgson rang up Kyle Walker to see if his injury had cleared before selecting Liverpool full back Martin Kelly
England manager Roy Hodgson revealed that he wanted to bring Tottenham defender Kyle Walker to Euro 2012 but his toe injury hadn’t cleared.
The Three Lions boss then picked Martin Kelly – a decision that caused controversy with Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand selected.
Hodgson told the BBC: “We called Kyle Walker up and asked if his toe had cleared up but he said it hadn’t, so we called up Martin Kelly.”
