Tottenham defender William Gallas believes that his side’s victory over Manchester United earlier this season proves they can defeat rivals Arsenal this weekend.

The Lilywhites need a result against Arsene Wenger’s struggling side after Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at Manchester City made it one win from their last four league games.

However, Arsene Wenger’s side are also in the midst of a poor run of form, having not won in the league since early October, and Gallas is confident that Spurs head to the Emirates with a realistic chance of a result.

“After what we did against Manchester United, we have to believe that we can win anywhere,” said Gallas, who added that his team must cut out individual errors. “When we play away we have to be confident that we can do something.

“We believe that we can go home with three points but like I said we make some mistake and then we are very disappointed.”

Gallas spent four years at Arsenal and left for Spurs in 2010, much to the chagrin of the Gunners fans, but he knows better than anyone how much this game means to both sets of fans.

“It’s a big derby,” he said. “We have to put the result there.

“It won’t be easy but we have to do something.”
