Tottenham transfer news: Heurelho Gomes is open to a stay at White Hart Lane
Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has revealed that Harry Redknapp’s departure from White Hart Lane has changed his future plans.
The Brazilian was replaced as Spurs’ first choice by Brad Friedel and did not make a Premier League appearance.
The 31-year-old was desperate to leave as long as Redknapp was in charge.
“It was a very hard season, I was desperate to leave,” Gomes told Arena Sportv. “Now things have changed as the manager left last week.”
Gomes knows he needs to play at club level, in order to return to the Brazil side.
“I want to return to the national team but I have to play first,” he added.
“Once I’m playing again, my focus will be on returning to the national team. I know how good it is to be there.
“Of course, they are rejuvenating the national team, but I’m only 31, which is a good age. I’ll do very well this season.”
