Ulrich Ostergaard replaced Joe Screen in our line-up over the weekend and I really hope it’s the last change we make this season.

I’m not having a go at Rob Lyon or anyone else at King’s Lynn because they’re trying to maximise the team and find the right formula. However, I just hope they’ve found it now because too many changes, in my opinion, are a bit unsettling.

You want to get a rhythm going where everybody knows what each other, and they, are doing. But we keep changing our riding order and it’s frustrating because it’s easier when you have a settled line-up.

I like to turn up knowing what heats I’m going to ride in, who with, and who will be next to me in the pits. I find it stresses me a bit when I’m constantly having to look at the schedule to know who’s doing what.

I know you can’t do a lot about it, and some riders really don’t get affected by it, but as captain I’ve found it hard with the team changing so much. It’s hard to get the team spirit as it should be too because there’s been so many different faces.

I know it’s not possible with riders racing in different countries, but I’d love to just have a settled seven-man team. That said, I support what Rob and the guys are doing because they’re being positive. They’re doing their best to get a team which they think can win meetings and will get us to the play-offs. And at the end of the day that’s all that matters. I just hope we can rock on from here.

I am sad to see Screeny go, though, because he’s a really nice guy. If I’m honest I didn’t know him before he came to King’s Lynn, but I always admired him. He’s got such a unique racing style.

He’s been a thrill to ride with, not only because he’s really talented and did well for us, but because he’s also a fantastic bloke.

I’ve known Ulrich for years as we used to ride 80cc together as teenagers. He’s a very determined rider and always gives 100pc. Number six is the perfect position for him. I think he’ll do really well at reserve.

He has had some great scores around Lynn and I think he’ll do really well at home. Having me and Niels (Kristian Iversen) around will help as we obviously speak his language (Danish), but I just hope he keeps on top of his machinery. My only concern is whether he can keep his bikes in top condition.

As for me, I’m desperate to do better so I’ve sent two engines home and got two new ones for England. I’ve enjoyed a little break in Hungary and now I’m raring to go to help us push for the play-offs.

Around 25 per cent of the population self-identity as having no religion yet still enjoy the fun of Christmas (Photo by Oli Scarff/Getty Images)

It’s Christmas time. We know this by the light-adorned streets, the mobility hazard posed by boxes of Quality Street, Roses and Celebrations in every supermarket’s entrance and, of course, the incessant radio-plays of Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You.
