Witches see off Leicester Lions’ roar

Ipswich Witches 53 Leicester Lions 40

IPSWICH ‘Sackers’ Witches beat Leicester Lions at Foxhall this afternoon, but the Lions put up a good fight.

Carelessly the Witches gifted Leicester too many points and with Lions’ Magnus Karlsson in good form, they were still only five points behind with four heats to go.

However, the Witches always looked likely to win this one and star performers Dakota North, Rohan Tungate and Kevin Doolan finished the midlanders off with two maximum 5-1s in the final few heats.

Ipswich’s victory consolidates their grip at the top of the Southern League Cup section.

Scorers: Ipswich: L Lanham 7+1, R/R, K Doolan 15+2, D North 14+2, M Tresarrieu 4, C Heeps 3+2, R Tungate 10+3.

Leicester: L Bjerre 8+1, S Lambert 2, K Nieminen 7, J Makinen 5+1, M Karlsson 15, J Graversen 1, K Hughes 2+1.
